Colorado tint law

Legal & done right

Getting the darkness wrong means a ticket. Getting it right means a clean, legal look that lasts. Here's what Colorado allows — and how we help you choose.

Colorado tint limits

Darkness is measured as VLT — Visible Light Transmission. The lower the number, the darker the film.

  • Front side windows: must let in more than 27% of light (27%+ VLT).
  • Rear side & back glass: any darkness is allowed — go as dark as you like.
  • Windshield: a tinted brow strip is permitted along the top, above the AS-1 line.
  • Reflectivity: windows may not be excessively mirrored or reflective.

We stay current on Colorado regulations and confirm legal shades with you before we start. Medical exemptions are available — just ask.

Carbon or ceramic — how to choose

Advanced Carbon is the smart-value pick: a deep, matte, color-stable finish with 99% UV rejection and a strong 65% infrared heat rejection. Ideal for daily drivers who want style and protection without the premium price.

Premium Ceramic is the comfort upgrade: the same 99% UV block plus up to 85% infrared heat rejection for a dramatically cooler cabin, less glare on long I-25 drives, and better AC efficiency — all while staying crystal-clear for visibility and phone signal.

Not sure which is right? Tell us how and where you drive and we'll match you to the ideal film and shade.

Aftercare

Keep your tint flawless

A few simple habits keep your film looking factory-fresh for the life of the vehicle.

  • Wait to roll down: leave your windows up for 3–5 days while the film cures so the edges seal cleanly.
  • Clean gently: use a soft microfiber cloth and an ammonia-free cleaner — ammonia breaks tint down over time.
  • A little haze is normal: slight cloudiness or tiny water pockets right after install disappear as the film dries.
  • Backed by warranty: if anything ever bubbles, peels, or fades, bring it back — it's covered for the life of the film.

Window tint FAQ

What's the difference between carbon and ceramic tint?

Both block 99% of UV and won't fade or turn purple. Advanced Carbon is a color-stable, budget-friendly film focused on style and UV protection, with 65% infrared heat rejection. Premium Ceramic adds serious heat rejection — up to 85% — for a noticeably cooler cabin and far less glare. If comfort and heat are your priority, go ceramic.

How dark can I legally tint my windows in Colorado?

In Colorado your front side windows must allow more than 27% of light through, while rear side windows and the back glass can be any darkness. A tinted brow strip is allowed on the windshield above the AS-1 line. We confirm legal shades with you before we start so your tint looks great and stays street-legal.

Does ceramic tint really block heat?

Yes — noticeably. Our Premium Ceramic film rejects up to 85% of infrared heat, the part of sunlight you feel as warmth. On hot Colorado days that means a cooler cabin, less glare, and an AC system that doesn't have to work as hard.

Will tint interfere with my phone signal, GPS, or defroster?

No. Our ceramic and carbon films are non-metallic, so they won't interfere with cell signal, GPS, radio, or your rear defroster grid.

How much does window tint cost?

Advanced Carbon starts at $119 and Premium Ceramic at $169 for two front windows; full-vehicle tint starts at $329 (Carbon) and $379–$449 for SUVs and vans. Pricing depends on your vehicle and film — we confirm an exact quote before scheduling.

Do you remove old or bubbling tint?

Yes. We remove failed, purpling, or bubbling factory or aftermarket tint and prep the glass properly before installing fresh film for a clean result.

Is the tint warrantied, and how do I care for it?

Our films carry a manufacturer-backed lifetime warranty against fading, bubbling, and peeling. After install, leave windows up for 3–5 days while the film cures and clean with a soft cloth and ammonia-free cleaner. We walk you through everything at pickup.
